The reason I've not posted sine late last week is I was forced to load my suitcase with a three-day supply of pescription drugs, hop in the great black shark and fin my way up to Las Vegas-- a town I really do not like visiting. The only good thing I can say about this trip is that by 10:00 Monday morning, I'll be homeward bound and reunited with my by now crazed Chihuahua hybrid--11 pounds of furious tongue yo-yoing to celebrate the trip home from my 89 year old mother's down in Azusa, where he's been a guest since Friday.
There's really nothing positive I can say about Las Vegas. A lifetime of reporting and forced trips to this blast furnace-- it was only 112 today--makes me appreciate leave taking the Strip and putting the Great Black Shark, my Prius, on auto pilot for the 335 return trip to San Diego with the requisite stop to pick up Mr Perro in Azusa and maybe a could drink in Barstow.
I do have a timeshare in Vegas--which means I don't have to wade through legions of drunk gamblers on my way to my room. But what I'm most excited about is getting home to the red hot yellowtail bite in the kelp forests of the San Diego coast. Yellowtail fishing is a whole lot less stressful than dealing with Vegas and it's a much cheaper way to pass the time.
Hopefully, I'll feel a lot more like writing when I get home to my little palm thatched outside office next to my upper garden, which thank to the weasels is now in its fourth week of being totally free of gophers.
A couple of things i want to cover later this week is the appearance of a new class of knowledge workers here in California that has made their skill with convertible/tablet computers, like those made by Fujitsu, HP and Lenovo, pay off every week; How one notebook maker is making a big impression among educational computer users with a great tablet computing evangelist program; And, the importance of new designs in expanding market share and building brand awareness. Plus i also want to cover the results of using an organic calcium foliar feed on my tomatoes and Brussels Sprouts and my thoughts on whether live sardines or live anchovies are better yellowtail baits.--Jim Forbes, packing up for the big drive home on 06/17/2007.
